DEFORM

Dual-band distortion with adaptive noise following

Last updated 1 day ago

Color Device

DEFORM is a dual-band distortion tool blending analog-style overdrive, bit crushing effects, compression, and noise following algorithms. The noise generator conforms to incoming audio, and has controls for intensity, decay, and filtering. The effect can be blended with the original signal allowing creative flexibility from subtle warmth to extreme destruction.

Parameters

DRIVE Adds overdrive to the incoming signal.

COMPRESS One knob compression, simultaneously controlling threshold and ratio at fixed attack and release times.

NOISE DECAY The decay time of the envelope follower.

NOISE TONE This parameter controls the cutoff frequency of a bandpass filter applied to the noise algorithm.

WET Controls the dry/wet of the device.

Signal chain

The DEFORM device features a number of different effects. These effects are routed together in a fixed signal chain, which can be seen below:

  1. NOISE

  2. DRIVE

  3. CRUSH

  4. COMPRESS

CRUSH Applies bit crushing effects.

TILT Adjusts the balance of the bands. Positive values will attenuate the low band and amplify the high band, and vice versa. This parameter has modes to adjust the crossover frequency of the two bands.

NOISE Controls the amount of noise added by the envelope following noise algorithm.
