Mapping and Controlling Parameters with PERFORM

Last updated 6 days ago

PERFORM is the S-4’s global macro control, offering a central hub for managing parameters from a single interface. Creating custom macros is simple, giving you the flexibility to tailor the S-4 to your unique creative needs. PERFORM features 8 slider macros and 4 action macros for custom mappings.

Perform View

All PERFORM functionality is accessed through the Perform View, which is opened using the dedicated button on the S-4’s front panel.

PERFORM Macro Behaviour

To understand how PERFORM macros interact with the S-4’s architecture, there are a few key points to consider:

  • Relative Control: PERFORM macros act relatively to existing parameter values and modulation. This means they add to, rather than replace, current settings. This allows for expressive, layered control.

  • Project-Wide Mapping: PERFORM macros are project-dependent and apply across all scenes within a project. For example, a macro mapped to a parameter on Track 1 in Scene 001 will also affect Track 1 in Scene 002, Scene 003, and so on. See Data Structure section to learn more.

  • Unique Modulators: Like the Mix View and the individual Tracks, PERFORM features its own set of four modulators that can be used to dynamically control and automate the 8 slider macros.
