MIDI Config

Track MIDI Channel

To communicate between the two connected devices the MIDI channel must be set to the same channel on each. Check with the manufacturers documentation for any external device MIDI configuration. Each track of the S-4 can be configured to receive MIDI on its own individual channel.

Adjusting the Track MIDI Channel

  1. Connect a device using USB or MIDI ports

  2. Tap [CONFIG] to open the Config menu

  3. Navigate to the MIDI menu and open it

  4. Navigate to highlight the TRACK MIDI CHANNEL

  5. Tap [SELECT] or use any of the eight Parameter Encoders to cycle through MIDI channel 1-16. The displayed number will be the channel set for the track.

  6. The Track will now recieve MIDI on the specified MIDI Channel

MIDI CC Control

Parameters on the S-4 can be controlled using external gear. MIDI CC messages are mapped from values 0-127 to the range of the parameter. All parameters are assigned to a specific MIDI CC number according to the CC Mapping Reference. CC Control can be enabled or disabled in the Config menu.

  1. Tap [CONFIG] to open the Config menu

  2. Navigate to the MIDI menu and open it

  3. Highlight the CC CONTROL option

  4. Tap [SELECT] to toggle CC Control on or off

MIDI Synchronization

The S-4 can be synchronized to an external MIDI Clock or it can synchronize other gear.

  1. Tap [CONFIG] to open the Config menu

  2. Navigate to the MIDI menu and open it

  3. Highlight SYNC IN, SYNC OUT or START STOP

  4. Tap [SELECT] to toggle the highlighted option on or off

SYNC IN

External device can be used to control the clock. The Global Tempo on the S-4 will respond to the timing of the external clock. Manual tempo adjustments on S-4 will be ignored when SYNC IN is ON.

Manual tempo adjustments available.

SYNC OUT

External device will respond to

the S-4 clock. The Global Tempo on the S-4 will be used to sync the external device.

-

START STOP

Control the playback of the S-4 from an external device.

-

Avoid sending multiple MIDI clocks to S-4 to both MIDI USB and MIDI TRS in jack

Program Change

Scenes can be launched using program change. A setting is availble in the Config menu to enable or disable Program Change on the S-4.
