Scene Overview

Last updated 1 day ago

SCENE allows for the creation of up to 128 unique scenes, each with full parameter and sample recall. Scenes can be launched seamlessly, making them ideal for everything from subtle variations to entirely distinct sections within a live set. Parameters and sample changes can be included or excluded per track, offering flexible control. Tools like CHANCE and RULE enable automated scene launching, while CHAIN and LOCK support dynamic, performance-driven applications.

Scene View

All SCENE functionality is accessed through the Scene View, which is opened using the dedicated button on the S-4’s front panel.

Opening the Scene View

  • Tap the [SCENE] button to open the Scene View

Scenes and Project Sample Pool

Each project includes a sample pool of 36 buffers (used by TAPE and POLY). Loading a sample or recording in TAPE will automatically start to populate the sample pool, indicated by the visualisation in the Scene View. Audio loaded in DISC does not count toward this limit.

Keep Params and Sample

While the Scene functionality on the S-4 is designed to create complete states across all four tracks, there is also the option to keep certain settings on specific tracks for more tailored use cases. These settings are available per track.

  • KEEP PARAMS: When toggled, this option will keep all parameter settings intact on the specified Track.

  • KEEP SAMPLE: When toggled, this option will keep the loaded sample the Material device intact on the specified Track.

Adjusting these settings is done through the Config menu.

  1. Tap [CONFIG] to open the Config menu

  2. Open the SCENE menu

  3. Open either TRACK 1, TRACK 2, TRACK 3 or TRACK 4

  4. Adjust KEEP SAMPLE and KEEP PARAMS settings

Copying and Clearing Scenes

Copying and clearing is done through the dedicated [COPY] and [CLEAR] buttons on the interface.
