# Creating & Clearing Perform Mappings

***

## **Selecting a Perform Macro**

1. From any view, hold **\[PERFORM]** and **\[CTRL]**
2. An overlay will fill the screen, indicating that a Perform Macro can be selected
3. While holding, **tap** one of the **eight Parameter encoders** or one of the **four \[ACTION] buttons** to select a Perform Macro
4. Let go of **\[PERFORM]** and **\[CTRL]** to return to the previous view

## **Mapping Device Parameters to a Perform Macro**

1. Navigate to the **Device Parameter** you want to map to the selected **Perform Macro**
2. Hold **\[PERFORM]** to enter **Mapping Mode**
3. While holding **\[PERFORM]** adjust the parameter to set the mapping amount

## Visual Indication of Perform Macro Mappings

Both the graphical user interface and the device button LEDs provide clear visual feedback on how Perform Macros are applied to specific parameters. This helps identify which parameters are being modulated at a glance:

* A small indicator bar appears on the slider of any mapped parameter, reflecting its current value, if the parameter is modulated by a macro.
* When in **Mapping Mode**, the **\[DEVICE] button** LEDs light up in pink, if a parameter in the device has been mapped to a Perform Macro.

## **Mapping Modulator Parameters to a Perform Macro**

1. Navigate to a **Track** or tap **\[MIX]** to open the **Mix View**
2. Tap **\[MOD]** or hold **\[MOD]** and double tap an **\[ACTION] button** to open the **Modulation Source View** of the desired modulator
3. Hold **\[PERFORM]** to enter **Mapping Mode**
4. While holding **\[PERFORM]** adjust the parameter to set the mapping amount

{% hint style="info" %}
Since Perform Macros can be modulated by PERFORM’s own set of four modulators, mapping modulator parameters to Perform Macros allows for **cross-modulation** of modulator settings.

## **Switching Between UNIPOLAR and BIPOLAR Modes**

Perform Macros on the S4 features two modes: **UNIPOLAR** and **BIPOLAR**. You can toggle between these modes to define how a Perform Macro behaves. This is done seamlessly and non-destructively, meaning that mappings made for a Perform Macro prior to changing modes will persist.

1. Tap **\[PERFORM]** to enter the Perform view
2. Tap and hold a **PARAMETER** **encoder**
3. While holding switch between **UNIPOLAR** and **BIPOLAR** modes for that specific Perform Macro
4. Release the Parameter Encoder to confirm the selection

## **Clearing Perform Macro Mapping**

1. Tap and hold **\[PERFORM]** and **\[CLEAR]**
2. While holding, **tap** one of the **eight PARAMETER encoders** or one of the **four \[ACTION] Buttons** to select a Perform Macro
3. Navigate to a **Mapped PARAMETER**
4. Turn or tap the **PARAMETER encoder** of the mapped parameter
5. The parameter will return to the default value of 0, and the is no longer mapped to the Perform Macro
