Data Structure

The S-4’s Internal Data Structure

Last updated 1 day ago

S-4 System

The S-4 has 4GB of internal storage. All projects stored on the S-4 can access any sample. The S-4 also stores a handful of config settings independently of projects, such as MIDI settings, MISC settings and the MAIN LEVEL.

External Drive

The S-4 can store samples internally, but its storage capacity can be expanded by connecting an external flash drive to store additional samples.

Projects

A project is the primary container for stored data on the S-4, encompassing all 128 available scenes. It also retains all mappings and parameter values from the PERFORM and MIX views, along with their respective sets of four modulators.

Scenes

Scenes are located directly below projects in the hierarchy. Each scene stores all track related data on the S-4.

Tracks

Tracks store device settings, track-specific modulators, and buffers used in MATERIAL devices such as TAPE and POLY. The S-4 provides four tracks in total.
