There are two views available when working with modulation on the S-4: Mapping Mode and the Modulation Source View. The two modulation views are described below.
This is where modulation is applied. In Mapping Mode, devices can be navigated and modulation mappings can be made. The view focuses on which parameters are being modulated and allows for quick, hands-on mapping.
Hold [MOD] to open Mapping Mode
While holding [MOD] tap an [ACTION] button to navigate to any of the four modulators
Letting go of [MOD] will either:
Return to device if a mapping has been made
Open Modulation Source View if no mappings has been made
This view is where individual modulator settings are adjusted. Each modulator offers a unique set of controls, which vary based on the type of modulator selected in a slot. The Modulation Source View is used to define how the modulation behaves.
Tap [MOD] to open the Modulation Source View
To switch modulators when viewing the Modulation Source View, hold [MOD] and tap any of the four [ACTION] buttons and let go of [MOD]
Tap [MOD] again to close the Modulation Source View
Hold [MOD] to enter Mapping Mode
While holding [MOD], tap an [ACTION] button to access one of the four modulators
While still holding [MOD], tap the same [ACTION] button repeatedly to toggle between Mapping Mode and the Modulation Source View
Once in the Modulation Source View, the [MOD] button can be released to latch the view
To resume toggling, hold [MOD] again and tap an [ACTION] button
Like Devices, Modulators follow the same modular structure. This means that the type of Modulator selected in any given Modulator Slot can be changed at any time.
While in Modulation Source View, tap [SELECT] to see list of Modulators
Highlight a Modulator
Tap [SELECT] to assign the highlighted Modulator to the current Modulator Slot
