Repeats & Ramp

Repeats sets how many extra note triggers are generated from each Pulse. Hold [CTRL] to access Ramp, which shapes the velocity of those repeats so they can build up or fade out over time. Together, they control both the density and dynamic contour of repeated notes.

Knob Behavior

ActionDescription
TurnSet the number of repeats from 0 to 48. Full clockwise enables infinite repeats.
[CTRL] + TurnAdjust Ramp, applying an upward or downward velocity change across the repeats.

Value Button Behavior

ActionDescription
PushSet the number of repeats directly using the [VALUE] buttons. Use [VB8] and [VB16] to select between Choke and Tail modes.
[CTRL] + PushSet Ramp directly using the [VALUE] buttons.
[CLEAR] + PushReset the selected parameter to its default setting and clear randomization.

How Random modulation applies to Repeats:

  • Clockwise: + number of repeats
  • Counterclockwise: - number of repeats
  • Unit: Random Rate

See the Random Behavior Reference.

Applying Repeats to a Track

To use the Note Repeater, the Track must first contain Pulses.

  1. Select a Track.
  2. Add Pulses by turning (PULSES) or placing them manually.
  3. Turn (REPEATS) to set the number of repeats.
  4. Optionally press a [VALUE] button to set Repeats directly.
  5. Hold [CTRL] and turn (REPEATS) to apply a velocity ramp across the repeats.
  6. Optionally hold [CTRL] and press a [VALUE] button to set Ramp directly.
  7. Press [CLEAR] + [VALUE] to reset the selected parameter to its default setting and clear randomization.

Choke and Tail Modes

Repeats can be generated in two different modes with different behaviors. Switch between them using [VB8] and [VB16].

ModeButtonDescription
Choke[VB8]Each Pulse chokes the previous Repeats. Voicing Style affects both.
Tail[VB16]New Repeats layer over previous ones. Voicing Style affects Repeats only.
  1. Hold or double-tap (REPEATS) to open the parameter menu.
  2. Press [VB8] to select Choke mode or [VB16] to select Tail mode.

Tail mode can create complex overlapping arpeggio patterns. Try it with infinite repeats and Ramp or Climb voicing to build large evolving chords.

Using Ramp

Ramp changes the velocity across the repeats. It works relative to the Track’s overall Velocity, so you may want to adjust (VELOCITY) as well to get the desired effect.

DirectionDescription
ClockwiseApply an upward velocity ramp across the repeats.
CounterclockwiseApply a downward velocity ramp across the repeats.
