Sustain
The Sustain parameter controls how long each note lasts in the selected Track. Use it to shape articulation, from very short, percussive notes to long overlapping notes that create smoother phrasing.

How Random modulation applies to Sustain:
- Clockwise: + sustain differently for each note in the chord
- Counterclockwise: + sustain equally for each note in the chord
- Unit: Random Rate
See the Random Behavior Reference.
Adjusting the Sustain of Notes
Sustain controls note length relative to the Track’s rhythmic value. At the minimum setting, notes are as short as possible. The default setting is 50%, equal to one full division. Lower values create shorter, tighter notes, while higher values extend notes beyond a single step and can make consecutive notes overlap.
- Select a Track.
- Hold (SUSTAIN) to display the current Sustain setting on the [VALUE] buttons.
- Turn (SUSTAIN) clockwise to increase Sustain.
- Turn (SUSTAIN) counter-clockwise to decrease Sustain.
- Optionally press a [VALUE] button to set Sustain directly.
- Press [CLEAR] + [VALUE] to reset Sustain to its default setting of one full division and clear randomization.
Use shorter Sustain values for plucky parts, tight bass lines, and crisp rhythmic phrasing. Use longer values to create smoother legato motion, connect polyphonic phrases, or let notes overlap across multiple steps.
