Hold Mode
Hold Mode lets an FX track latch notes from the internal keyboard or an external MIDI source, so they continue to play without holding keys.
- Available on FX tracks only
- Works with both the internal keyboard and external MIDI input
- [CLEAR] lights red while notes are held
Quick Start
- Select a track and switch it to FX mode.
- Open the keyboard by double-tapping the track, or send notes from an external MIDI source.
- Play the notes you want to hold.
- Tap [CLEAR] to latch the current notes.
- Tap [CLEAR] again to release the held notes.
Sending new notes while Hold Mode is active replaces the previously held notes.
How Hold Mode works
Hold Mode behaves differently depending on the pulse state of the FX track:
- 0 pulses: the held notes are sustained continuously. This is useful for drones, sustained bass notes, or held chord layers.
- Pulses above 0: the held notes become the note pool for rhythmic playback. This is useful for arpeggios, broken chords, and repeating harmonic figures.
A simple starting point is to hold a chord, then use pulses and style settings to turn it into an evolving arpeggio.
Practical uses
Common uses for Hold Mode include:
- Holding a chord for arpeggios while shaping rhythm and voicing on the T1
- Freeing both hands for editing after latching the harmonic source
- Using external MIDI as a note source for sustained playback or rhythmic FX processing
