MIDI Looping

At extreme settings, Repeats can be set to Infinite. This turns a Track into a simple MIDI looper, where incoming notes are captured and played back continuously.

Turning a Track into a MIDI Looper

  1. Set the Track to FX mode so it can receive MIDI.
  2. Turn (REPEATS) fully clockwise to set Repeats to Infinite.
  3. Use (TIME) to set the loop length.
  4. Play notes into the Track from an external MIDI source or the T1’s internal keyboard.

The notes you send to the Track are captured into the loop and continue repeating.

Clearing the Loop

To clear the captured loop without resetting the Repeats setting:

  • Press (REPEATS), then press [CLEAR].

If you press [CLEAR] first, both the loop and the Repeats setting are cleared.

Note Length in the Loop

Notes inside the loop use the Track’s Sustain value for their note length, because looped events are generated as repeat notes.

Tips for MIDI Looping

Create an infinite loop, then animate it using non-destructive changes such as:

  • pitch variation with Random or Range
  • voicing changes
  • random accents

These kinds of changes reshape playback without overwriting the captured loop itself.

  • Looped notes are saved as part of the project, so they persist between boots.
  • If you want repeats on top of the loop, route the output of the MIDI looper Track into a new Track and apply repeats there.
  • You can play notes into the looper using either external MIDI input or the T1’s internal keyboard.
