MIDI Config
Track MIDI Channel
To communicate between the two connected devices the MIDI channel must be set to the same channel on each. Check with the manufacturers documentation for any external device MIDI configuration. Each track of the S4 can be configured to receive MIDI on its own individual channel.
Adjusting the Track MIDI Channel
- Connect a device using USB or MIDI ports
- Tap [CONFIG] to open the Config menu
- Navigate to the MIDI menu and open it
- Navigate to highlight the TRACK MIDI CHANNEL
- Tap [SELECT] or use any of the eight Parameter Encoders to cycle through MIDI channel 1-16. The displayed number will be the channel set for the track.
- The Track will now recieve MIDI on the specified MIDI Channel
MIDI CC Control
Parameters on the S4 can be controlled using external gear. MIDI CC messages are mapped from values 0-127 to the range of the parameter. All parameters are assigned to a specific MIDI CC number according to the CC Mapping Reference. CC Control can be enabled or disabled in the Config menu.
- Tap [CONFIG] to open the Config menu
- Navigate to the MIDI menu and open it
- Highlight the CC CONTROL option
- Tap [SELECT] to toggle CC Control on or off
MIDI Synchronization
The S4 can be synchronized to an external MIDI Clock or it can synchronize other gear.
- Tap [CONFIG] to open the Config menu
- Navigate to the MIDI menu and open it
- Highlight SYNC IN, SYNC OUT or START STOP
- Tap [SELECT] to toggle the highlighted option on or off
| Config Option | On | Off |
|---|---|---|
| SYNC IN | An external device controls the clock. The S4’s Global Tempo follows the external clock, and manual tempo adjustments on the S4 are ignored. | Manual tempo adjustments on the S4 are available and the S4 clock runs internally. |
| SYNC OUT | External devices follow the S4 clock. The S4’s Global Tempo is used to sync connected gear. | External devices do not follow the S4 clock. |
| START STOP | Playback of the S4 is controlled by an external device. | Playback of the S4 is controlled locally on the S4. |
Avoid sending multiple MIDI clocks to S4 to both MIDI USB and MIDI TRS in jack
